About
Rebecca Fudala is a photographer, photo editor, visual storyteller, and documentarian. Her path to visual editing is anything but straight. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from American University's School of International Service and a Master's degree in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
Originally from Minnesota, she has lived in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Denver. An avid traveler, Rebecca's journeys have taken her across the globe, including living in Prague, Seoul, and San José, Costa Rica. From Japan to Cambodia to Tanzania, Cuba, Egypt, and beyond, her experiences abroad greatly influence her approach to and vision for the visual arts.
After working in policy at the United Nations and Oxfam, she transitioned to the field of visual journalism as a 2020 graduate of the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism program at the International Center of Photography in New York. The creative switch wasn't a complete 180. From a young age, Rebecca had a passion for art and photography. She has a ceramics minor and worked in print production at the Journal of International Affairs and The New Yorker.
For personal projects, Rebecca works in both film and digital photography. Her two favorite cameras are her Leica C-Lux 2 and Fuji GA645.
Before moving to her current role at The Wall Street Journal, she was a photo editor at National Geographic.
